REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION
ITEM DESCRIPTION: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF INNSBRUCK DRIVE PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS
DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting, Director of Community Assets and Development
CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL:
No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___
Recommendation:
1.Accept the Public Safety Commission recommendation for pedestrian improvements.
2.Authorize the Director of Community Assets and Development to spend up to $10,000 for these
improvements.
Legislative History:
9/28/2021 Referred Pedestrian Signage to Public Safety Commission
11/8/2021 Public Safety Commission
Strategic Priority Alignment: Sustainable and Reliable Infrastructure
Financial Impact: Up to $10,000 from Fund 422 for concrete, truncated domes, signage, delineators and flags.
Explanation: Ingebord Chapin, a resident at 2616 Innsbruck Trail, indicated a safety concern for pedestrians
crossing Innsbruck Drive. With the location of parks and bus stops in the area Ingebord would like additional
signage to indicate the presence of pedestrians.
Innsbruck Drive is a 30 mph street with ~ 7,900 vehicles per day. There is a sidewalk on the north side and
residents who want to walk/bike to Innsbruck Park are required to cross 2 lanes of traffic and 2 parking lanes.
Lighting and sightlines are ok, but the crossing at Innsbruck Trail is on curve making it more difficult to cross.
Staff presented this topic to the Public Safety Commission for consideration, and the PS Commission
recommend that we add:
Pedestrian Curb Ramps
A Painted Crosswalk
Pedestrian Signage
Delineators (during the summer months)
“See Me” Flags https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y‐88f8l4OzU
________________________________________
Craig G. Schlichting, P.E.
Director of Community Assets and Development
Agenda Section: Consent
Report Date: 6/7/2022
Council Meeting Date: 6/14/2022
