WarrantsFormultiway stop signsto be installed at an intersection it must meet several criteria. According to the StateManual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), stop signs are warranted under the following conditions:1) Wheretraffic control signalsare justified, the multiway stop is an interim measure that can beinstalled quickly to control traffic while arrangements are being made for the installation ofthe traffic control signal.The traffic volume at this intersection is far from the requirement of needing a traffic signal.(NOT MET)2) Five or more reported crashes in a 12‐monthperiod that are susceptible to correction by amultiway stop installation. Such crashes include right turn and left turn collisions as well asright‐angle collisions.This intersection has 3 accidents in 10 years (NOT MET)3) Minimum volumes:a) Thevehicular volumeentering the intersection from the major street approaches (total of bothapproaches) averages at least300 vehicles per hourfor any 8 hours of an average day; andb) The combinedvehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle volumeentering the intersection from theminorstreetapproaches (total of both approaches) averagesat least 200 units per hourfor the same 8hours, with an average delay to minor‐street vehicular traffic of at least 30 seconds per vehicleduring the highest hour; butc) If the85th‐percentileapproach speed of the major street traffic exceeds40 mph, the minimumvehicular volume warrants are 70 percent of the values provided in Items a) and b).Low speed low volume of vehicles/pedestrians (NOT MET)Would site meet warrants for 4‐way stop?
