Proclamation CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON WHEREAS Franklin Doncavage is a sophomore at Irondale High School who has been a Scout for ten years, starting in first grade by joining Cub Scouts then bridging over to Troop 412 to be a Boy Scout; and WHEREAS Franklin has worked through numerous rank requirements, 35 merit badges, volunteered his time for community service projects, had countless troop activities; all leading up to his accomplishment of earning his Eagle Scout rank; and WHEREAS Franklin’s Eagle Scout service project was creating and installing signage (with the help of many volunteers) for Irondale High School’s Nordic Ski trail, which is beneficial to the Nordic ski team to clearly mark their 5.0 km course, and also helps the local community because the groomed ski trails are open to the public; and WHEREAS Franklin is a well-rounded individual who is involved in many activities: he is a straight- A student, plays the cello in Orchestra, is involved in his youth group at church, runs on the Irondale Track team, and will be captain of the Irondale Nordic Ski team for the 2023-2024 season; and WHEREAS Franklin plans to continue with Troop 412 during his high school years when he’s available and has already been appointed a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster; and WHEREAS Franklin has his sights on joining the military to serve our country and hopes to attend the Naval Academy upon graduating from high school in 2025; NOW, THEREFORE I, Kari Niedfeldt-Thomas, Mayor of The City of New Brighton, Minnesota do hereby recognize: Franklin Doncavage on his Eagle Scout Award achievement and wish him the best as he embarks on his next adventure.
