City Staff Update <br /> <br />Schlieu encouraged Commissioners to consider volunteering for Earth Day and noted she would <br />be sending information to the Commissioners regarding this event. She commented on the <br />banner design contest and encouraged the Commissions to consider participating. She invited the <br />Commission to submit Chair and Vice Chair nominations by Friday, April 21. She reported over <br />100 people attended the City sponsored Iftar dinner that was held at the New Brighton <br />Community Center. She stated the City received a lot of positive feedback from this event. <br /> <br />Chair Spooner commented on a training she attended on equity and discussed how a community <br />addressed street light replacements on a yearly basis in order to complete this task in an equitable <br />manner. She discussed how the Starbucks in St. Anthony has put out prayer mats in order to be <br />inclusive to the Muslim community. <br /> <br />Commissioner Forbes stated she was pleased the kindergarten roundup had been renamed to an <br />informational session. <br /> <br />Commissioner Steffenhagen discussed how important it was to get streets plowed for employees <br />that have to be at work on time after major snow events. <br /> <br />VII.
