<br />New Brighton Energy Action Plan 24 <br /> <br />Focus Area: Renewable Energy <br />Strategy 1: Execute a long-term residential renewable energy education campaign <br />Renewable energy subscription programs are a low-cost way for residents to source more of their <br />energy from renewables, while there are other on-site options available with rebate or other <br />incentive opportunities. <br /> <br />Desired Outcomes: <br />Increasing awareness of available programs for residents and businesses to access renewable energy <br />and take the first step. Participate in subscriptions and on-site renewable energy options. <br /> <br />Actions: <br />1a Table at local events to drive awareness of <br />residential renewable energy programs <br />The City and Partners in Energy will lead <br />this effort alongside other partners and <br />local renewable energy organizations <br />Timeline: Mid-term (6–12 Months) <br /> <br />Other considerations/partnerships/funding opportunities for this strategy: <br />Xcel Energy Renewable Energy Programs, Farmers Market, Veterans groups, Lions Eagles, Rotary, and <br />Arcadia. <br /> <br />Strategy 2: Engage businesses to enroll in renewable energy programs <br />Business renewable energy systems can help reach the energy goals of this plan but also help <br />businesses save on utility costs and promote their contributions to greenhouse gas reductions. <br /> <br />Desired Outcomes: <br />Five or more additional businesses participate in renewable energy programs in the next two years. <br /> <br />Actions: <br />2a Encourage the top commercial energy users to <br />enroll in renewable energy programs The Economic Development Council, <br />Department of Community Assets and <br />Development, and City Council will lead <br />on these actions with support from <br />Partners in Energy and City <br />communications staff <br />2b Work with a leading business to provide a case <br />study on renewable energy adoption <br />2c <br />Conduct a small business renewable energy <br />campaign promoting renewable subscription <br />programs <br />Timeline: Near-term (1–6 Months) <br />
