<br />New Brighton Energy Action Plan 25 <br />Strategy 3: Create and/or promote incentives for businesses to switch to renewable energy <br />There are incentives currently available for the installation or participation in subscription renewable <br />energy programs. Providing additional incentives and promoting available incentives will lead to <br />greater participation. <br /> <br />Desired Outcomes: <br />Five or more additional businesses participate in renewable energy programs in the next two years. <br /> <br />Actions: <br />3a <br />Develop an outline (including budget) of <br />incentives for testing and refinement where <br />needed The City and Partners in Energy will <br />lead these efforts with the appropriate <br />departmental input, communications, <br />and funding help, and approval <br />3b Incorporate incentives into regular business <br />communications <br />3c <br />Develop a recognition program for businesses to <br />be praised for their participation in renewable <br />energy programs <br />Timeline: Near-term (1–6 Months) <br /> <br />Other considerations/partnerships/funding opportunities for this strategy: <br />Minnesota Housing Finance Agency <br /> <br />Strategy 4: Create a sustainable building policy that requires City-funded construction to meet <br />renewable energy standards <br />For new construction and large renovations, the City can incentivize businesses and develop <br />relationships through renewable energy standards. <br /> <br />Desired Outcomes: <br />Develop relationships with building owners and developers and update policies. <br /> <br />Actions: <br />4a Develop an outline (including budget) of incentives <br />for testing and refinement where needed <br />The City and Partners in Energy will lead <br />these efforts alongside policy partners, <br />Parks, Recreation and Environment <br />Commission, and City Council. <br />Timeline: Mid-term (6–12 Months) <br /> <br />Other considerations/partnerships/funding opportunities for this strategy: <br />Partner with experts on energy policy with Center for Energy and Environment and the Cities of Edina, <br />St. Louis Park and Saint Paul who have existing policies.
