Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Gary Bank, Maren Hawkins, Kristin Hicks (arrived at 6:34 <br />p.m.), Julia O’Rourke (Chair), Becky Slabiak, Lara Sokol-Kraft, Michael Spooner, Zoey <br />Tenenbaum. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Abe McEathron and Pauline Alfors. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Jennifer Fink and Council Member Pam Stegora-Axberg. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Bank, seconded by Sokol-Kraft to approve the agenda as amended changing Item VII <br />to be an update from Chair O’Rourke. Motion carried 8-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Bank, seconded by Slabiak to approve the July 5, 2023 minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 5-0-3 (Chair O’Rourke and Commissioners Slabiak and Tenenbaum abstained). <br /> <br />V. Business Items <br /> <br />A. Adult Use Cannabis Update – Jennifer Fink, Parks and Recreation Director <br /> <br />Director Fink provided the Commission with an update on the action the City Council has <br />taken regarding on adult use cannabis. She reported Public Safety Director Paetznick would <br />be providing the Commission with an update on this topic on September. <br /> <br />Councilmember Axberg commented on the moratorium the City Council put in place noting <br />this would allow the City time to study and decide how to regulate the sale of cannabis in <br />New Brighton. <br /> <br />Discussion included:
