Partners in Energy Presentation - Jennifer Fink, Parks and Recreation Director and <br />Partners in Energy Staff <br /> <br />Director Fink stated the City Council approved participating in the Xcel Energy Partners in <br />Energy program (PiE). This PiE plan will then be incorporated into the City’s Climate Action <br />Plan being developed by Pale Blue Dot. PREC reviewed the high level goa ls at the July <br />Meeting. She discussed the process moving forward and noted the Partners in Energy team <br />was on hand to assist with answering questions. She asked what the Commission was <br />excited about within the Energy Action Plan. <br /> <br />Dierdre Coleman, Partners in Energy, commented on how it would benefit the City to have <br />an Energy Action Plan in place when trying to seek State grant funding. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br />• The Commission commented on how case studies were a great way to show the <br />value of peer groups. <br />• The Commission believed the recognition program would be a great way to get <br />businesses working towards becoming more green. <br />• The Commission believed the City was moving in the right direction. <br />• The Commission supported the City considering a single hauler for trash pickup. <br />• The Commission discussed how switching to electric appliances would become <br />cleaner over time as the grid shifts to electricity. <br />• The Commission commented on how important it would be to educate the public as <br />to the incentives of becoming more green. <br />• The Commission recommended staff consider how rentals should be addressed <br />within the energy plan. <br /> <br />Motion by Hicks, seconded by Sokol-Kraft to recommend the City Council consider approval <br />of the Energy Action Plan. Motion carried 8-0. <br /> <br />VI. Informational Items <br /> <br />A. Park Project Updates - Jennifer Fink, Parks and Recreation Director <br /> <br />Director Fink provided the Commission with an update on the park projects that were <br />underway. She reviewed the work that was underway at Hansen Park, noting the picnic <br />shelter was 50% complete. She discussed the grant opportunity she was pursuing for the <br />playground at Hansen Park. She stated the playground at Totem Pole Park came down last <br />week and the tennis court was being abated. She commented on the neighborhood <br />meeting that was held for the Lions Park splash pad. She noted Silver Oaks was waiting on <br />design plans. <br />
