City Council Update – Emily Dunsworth, Councilmember <br /> <br />Councilmember Dunsworth provided the Commission with an update from the City Council. <br />She stated the Council was working on the preliminary budget and tax levy for 2024. She <br />reported the final vote for the budget and levy would be in December. She recognized that <br />today was September 11 and she appreciated being at the Public Safety Center this evening. <br /> <br />C. Public Safety Update – Director Paetznick <br /> <br />Director Paetznick explained he was in the middle of a firefighter hiring process. He reported <br />he spent the later part of August and early September addressing the SRO topic. He noted he <br />has continued with the SRO program and he was acutely aware of the problematic legislation <br />that was in place. He believed it was best for the students for the officers to remain in place. <br />He commented on the assessment study that would be completed on the Public Safety <br />Department by an outside consultant and stated this topic would be addressed by the <br />Commission on October 9. He discussed the challenges that were facing the County wide <br />reporting program. Further discussion ensued regarding staffing for the Public Safety <br />Department. <br /> <br />VI. Presentations and Business Items <br /> <br />A. Public Safety Center Tour – Closed Session pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section <br />13D.05, Subd. 3(d) <br /> <br />Motion by Harkins, seconded by Stout to adjourn to a Closed Meeting at 6:59 p.m. Motion <br />carried 8-0. <br /> <br />Director Paetznick provided the Commission with a tour of the Public Safety Center. <br /> <br />Motion by Wagner, seconded by Hollimon to reconvene the Public Safety Commission <br />meeting at 8:38 p.m. Motion carried 8-0. <br /> <br />VII.
