March 12,2024 Page 1 of 6 <br /> NEW <br /> BRIGHTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> build `°m°r•°`" today THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> Pursuant to notice thereof,a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, <br /> March 12,2024 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. <br /> Present: Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas, Councilmembers Abdulle,Allen, Axberg and Dunsworth <br /> Absent: <br /> Also Present: Devin Massopust-City Manager, Sarah Sonsalla-City Attorney(attending remotely), <br /> Ben Gozola-Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development,Trevor <br /> Hamdorf-Deputy Public Safety Director <br /> Call to Order Call to Order <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br /> Pledge of Allegiance Pledge of Allegiance <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> Public Comment Forum Public Comment <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. Forum <br /> Danny Dahms, 675 4th Avenue NW, explained he has been a homeowner in New Brighton <br /> since 1985. He indicated he has seen a lot of diversity in the community over the years. He <br /> commented on how a lot of the single family residential homes in New Brighton were owned <br /> by senior citizens. When these individuals move out and sell their homes, many are being <br /> purchased investors and additional bedrooms are added. He stated he is seeing homes in his <br /> neighborhood with five and six cars in the driveway. He indicated the homes in New Brighton <br /> were not designed to have five or six cars in the driveway. He asked that the City address this <br /> growing concern as the residential homes in the community were turning into mini-apartments. <br /> Approval of Agenda Approval of Agenda <br /> Approval of the March 12,2024 Council Agenda.
