Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola explained these <br /> outdated terms would be updated when the City moves to the brand new code, which would <br /> n occur later this year. <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas inquired why racquet sports were defined within this portion of code. <br /> Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola reported this was another <br /> old portion of code that would be updated within the new zoning code. <br /> Councilmember Axberg asked what the best thing was about the new parking ordinance. Ms. <br /> Faulkner stated she believed this to be the flexibility that was written into the new code. <br /> Councilmember Axberg questioned if there were any issues that should have been further <br /> considered. Consider Approval of Climate Action Plan. C Action <br /> Plan. <br /> of <br /> City Manager Massopust indicated Community Assets and Development Director Schlichting and Parks and <br /> Recreation Director Fink would be presenting this item to the Council. <br /> Community Assets and Development Director Schlichting stated paleBLUEdot and Partners in Energy(PIE) <br /> collaborated to establish community baselines for each of the focus areas of the plan and parallel tracts of <br /> climate action planning and energy planning.The PIE Team focused on the energy section of the plan and <br /> worked with Partners in Energy to dive deeply into the community's energy use,energy program <br /> participation,model goal scenarios,action plan,and identified energy opportunities in New Brighton to help <br /> meet climate goals.The CAP Team focused its attention on all other sections of the Climate Action Plan, <br /> including:transportation and land use,waste management,water and wastewater,local food and agriculture, <br /> greenspace and trees,climate health and safety,and climate economy.Through a series of planning team <br /> meetings,community surveys,equity one-on-one interviews and listening sessions,and Council/Commission <br /> inputs the final Climate Action Plan was created.Included with the plan is an Implementation Matrix that will <br /> be a living document to guide staff actions to reach greenhouse gas reduction goals.Staff commented on the <br /> process that was followed to create the CAP in further detail and recommended approval ofthis plan. <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas stated she appreciated the community engagement that was conducted as part of <br /> this plan.She also thanked staff for their efforts on this plan. <br /> Councilmember Axberg thanked staff for their efforts as well. <br /> Councilmember Allen stated she was appreciative ofthe process that was followed for the CAP and was <br /> pleased with the amount of community members and partners that were involved.He believed this plan <br /> would provide the City with a great roadmap for moving forward. <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas commended staff on their efforts on the implementation matrix. She asked what <br /> feedback staff received from the joint commission meeting regarding the CAP.Parks and Recreation Director <br />
