The savings for FSC staff based on 25 total hours for each employee would
be approximately $2,598.50. Aquatics staff is based on an estimate of 40 hours for each
employee which will result in s savings of $2,594.40 to the Recreation Programs budget.

.

Training fees and hours will be calculated at $7.00 per hour for a possible savings of$5,192.90
for FSC & Aquatics part-time staff. Playground seasonal staffwill also see a great benefit.

Explanation:
New Brighton Parks and Recreation part-time and seasonal staff receives various wages
depending on years of service, classification and certifications. The practice of training staff
increases confidence and provides necessary job related information. When supervisors hold
trainings they are paying staff a number of different wages for the exact same information and
time commitment. The objective of supervisory staff is to be more proficient with our trainings
and increase job knowledge in an equal environment while at the same time containing costs by
introducing a Training Wage.

Currently the American Red Cross, City of Plymouth, and City of Eagan use the practice of a
standard training wage. A training wage creates an equal environment for employees, provides
equal pay for completing the same training, and allows supervisors to provide staff with more
consistent training opportunities.

'.
