Upon review, it was found that the number of calls per dwelling unit exceed <br />the maximum allowable for a Regular Multiple Dwelling License as determined by City Code. <br />Written notice has been issued to Real Estate EquitiesNillage Green of staff recommendation to <br />Council for non renewal of their regular licensc. Real Estate Equities has until February 27, 2002, <br />to submit in writing a rcquest tor a hearing on this decision. There was no one present from Real <br />Estate Equities to speak regarding this issue. <br /> <br />Motion by Hoffman, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT THE <br />RESOLUTION FOR NON RENEWAL OF THE REGULAR LICENSE FOR REAL <br />EST A TE EQUITIESNILLAGE GREEN(POL YNESIAN VILLAGE) FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1201 10TH ST NW THROUGH 149710TII ST NW IN THE <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Staff has reviewed public safety calls for Lake Jones Apartments, 219-221 Old Hwy 8 SW, tor the <br />period of July 1- December 31, 2001, and found the calls per dwelling unit exceed the maximum <br />allowable for a Regular Multiple Dwelling License as determined by City Code. Written notice <br />has been issued to Lake Jones Apartments of statf recommendation to Council for non renewal of <br />their regular license. Lake Jones Apartments has until February 27, 2002, to submit in writing a <br />Irequest for a hearing on this decision. There was no one present from Lake Jones Apartments to <br />speak regarding this issue. The type of calls which quality as Part I C. rimes include burglary, theft, <br />auto theft:, arson, murder, rape, controlled substances, armed robbery, gambling, and disturbance <br />calls. <br /> <br />Ifthe license is not rcnewed, a Provisional License application will be needed which includes <br />submittal of a Mitigation Plan and goals for review by the Public Safety Department. This <br />Mitigation Plan would illustrate how the applicant will respond and improve this situation. Every <br />six months, staff will review the number of calls to see if progress was made towards the goals in <br />the Mitigation Plan. <br /> <br />Motion by Moore-Sykes, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT <br />THE RESOLUTION FOR NON RENEWAL OF THE REGULAR LICENSE FOR LAKE <br />JONES APARTMENTS FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 219 - 221 OLD HWY 8 <br />SW IN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Consideration ofthe rezoning of Johnson Screens vacant properties from 1-2, Heavy Industrial to <br />MX, Mixed Use (ROl-4), 1950 Old Hwy 8 NW. This item was continued from the January 22 <br />Council meeting upon Johnson Screens request. The Comp Plan calls for the future land use of <br />these parcels to be Mixed Use (MX). An industrial usc such as the current operation would not <br />be permitted in a MX. Staff met with Johnson Screens representatives who voiced concerns about <br />I expansion plans and zoning of the parcel their current building is located. It was determined that <br />the current use closely meets the listed allowable uses in 1-1, but specific language identifying that <br />use should be added. <br /> <br />Bob Norcl, Johnson Screens, reiterated their wish to expand the facility to the northerly direction, <br />but would not force out the residential homc occupants.
