<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, January 23,2001, <br />at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Old Highway 8 NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Larson, Counci1members Gunderman, Hoffman, and Moore-Sykes <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Samuelson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Margaret Egan, Finance Director <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br /> <br />Council Al!enda <br /> <br />Report 01-021, Recodification of Municipal Code, and Report 01-025, Highview Gym <br />agreement, were moved to the Council Business Agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Hoffman, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL <br />AGENDA. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Moore-Sykes, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE JANUARY 9, 2001, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Larson, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Planning Commission- <br />December 19,2000. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business - 2001 State of the City Address <br /> <br />2000 was a year in which many achievements were accomplished and numerous plans put <br />into action. <br /> <br />The new Comprehensive Plan was approved by the Metropolitan Council. Now we must <br />continue to carry out the plan that was carefully designed after hundreds of hours of <br />public meetings and planning sessions. <br />Some of the other city activities in New Brighton included: <br />Continued street and utility improvements. Last year's focus was on the Pike lake <br />neighborhood. In 200 1, our focus will be on the Northwest end of the community, in <br />the Mississippi Street area. <br />Sidewalk projects <br />Park improvements (this project included the investment of $2.6 million from <br />reserves to rebuild 4 park shelters into community meeting facilities and replaced <br />old bridges and improving paths & lighting @ Hansen Park and all of our parks. ) <br /> <br />Council A2:enda <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />State ofthe Citv <br />
