<br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />January 23,2001 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2001 State of the City Address. continued <br /> <br />We have already started our 3rd series of Neighborhood grid meetings and will be holding the 24th Town Hall <br />Meeting March 24th at the Family Service Center. Please take time out to participate, look for issues addressed in "In <br />the Neighborhood", watch council and planning commission meetings on cable, watch programs on CTV and stay <br />informed. Should you have any questions, contact city hall @651-638-2040, or call me @651-636-4997. <br /> <br />A special project was started this past year by me that established a committee to raise donations of$20,000.00 to <br />purchase a Thermal Imager for use by the Fire Department. Thanks to people like the Chamber of Commerce, <br />Eagles, Tri-City Legion, Lions, John Allen ofIndustrial Equities all donating $3000.00 and the remainder from other <br />businesses and individuals we now have this piece of equipment ready to use in your homes. This Thermal Imager <br />will enable the Fire Dept to "see" through the black smoke and fight fires more effectively and safely. Thanks again <br />NB for accepting the challenge and coming through. <br /> <br />I would like to say goodbye to some special people that had an impact on NB. We lost 2 past Fire Chiefs: Jerry <br />Frieden and Eugene "EZ" Zamor , former Mayor Gayle Bromander and long time Planning Commission member <br />Mike Livingston. Thanks again to Matt Fulton and stafffor your work in 2000. A special thanks also goes to my <br />partners Arly, Char, Ann and Kim.
