<br />~ -' ,.... <br /> <br />...' -~. <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 89-159 <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION SUPPORT FOR <br />RAMSEY COUNTY TRAIL ACQUISITION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Rice Creek Regional Trail Cooridor has been <br />identified as part of the Regional Recreational Open Space <br />System for multi-use land trails, and a canoe route; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Ramsey County lS the implementing agency for the <br />Rice Creek Trail Cooridor segments within Ramsey County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, All of the trail corridor segments within Ramsey <br />County have been acquired, except for a one mile segment which <br />passes through the Twin Cities Arms Plant, owned by the U.S. <br />Department of Defense; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Access through the Twin Cities Arms Plant along <br />Rice Creek, is essential in order to provide a continuous water <br />route for canoeing and other boating activities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Northwest Municipalities of Ramsey County are <br />interested in acquiring and developing a 35 (plus or minusj <br />acre parcel of land within the Twin City Arms Plant for <br />athletic fields, that is adjacent to, and complements the <br />proposed Rice Creek Trail Corridor; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Efforts to negotiate with the u.s. Department of <br />Defense for access through the Arms Plant along Rice Creek have <br />" been unsuccessful; Now, Therefore, Be It <br /> <br />RESOLVED, That the City of New Brighton, in cooperation <br />with the Northwest Ramsey County municipalities, requests the <br />assistance of the Minnesota Congressional Delegation in this <br />effort. <br /> <br />7~~::~)~, <br />. . j~?!J. <br /> <br />Robert J.
