<br />RESOLUTION NO. 89-159 <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION SUPPORT FOR <br />i RAMSEY COUNTY TRAIL ACQUISITION <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Rice Creek Regional Trail Corridor has <br />been identified as part of the Regional Recreational Open Space <br />System for multi-use land trails, and a canoe route; and <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Ramsey County is the implementing agency for <br />the Rice Creek Corridor segments within Ramsey County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all of the trail corridor segments wi thin <br />Ramsey County have been acquired, except for a one mile segment <br />which passes through the Twin City Army Ammunition Plant, owned <br />by the U. S. Department of Defense; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, access through the Twin City Army Ammunition <br />III Plant along Rice Creek is essential in order to provide a <br />continuous water raute for canoeing and other boating <br />activities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the northwest municipalities of Ramsey County <br />I are interested in acquiring and developing 35 (plus or minus) <br />I acre parcel of land within the Twin City Army Ammunition Plant <br />for athletic fields, that is adjacent to, and complements the <br />proposed Rice Creek Trail Corridor; and <br />I' <br /> <br />WHEREAS, efforts to negotiate with the U.S. Department <br />of Defense for access through the Twin City Army Ammunition <br />Plant along Rice Creek have been unsuccessful. <br /> <br />I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of New <br />I Brighton in cooperation with the northwest Ramsey County <br />I municipalities, requests the assistance of the Minnesota <br />Congressional Delegation in this effort. <br />i <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />Adopted this _ <br /> <br />26th <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />December <br /> <br />, 1989. <br /> <br />i <br />i <br />i <br />I <br />; <br /> <br />,/ <br />{l <br />v'" <br />'\ 'j '1 <br />\,r'l .
