<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />June 27, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 9 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Moore-Sykes, to APPROVE AMENDMENT <br />CHANGES TO CHAPTER 21, PERSONNEL ORDINANCE. <br /> <br />5 Ayes ~ 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Amtz presented the 2000 Labor Agreement with Law Enforcement Labor Services <br />(LELS) Police Officers. The provisions of the settlement are as follows: one year contract <br />expiring December 31,2000; 3% cost ofliving increase; $IO/month increase in specialty <br />pay; $15 annual increase in uniform allowance; use of $60 of insurance maximum for <br />dental insurance; three hours minimum compensation for court time; and two certificate <br />enhancements to the SELF Program. The total cost of this package is $1,327,900 which is <br />$3,900 less than the 1999 contract. The decrease is due to replacement of higher paid, <br />more senior positions with lower paid, less tenured officers. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION APPROVING THE LABOR AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON AND LELS, LOCAL 113. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Jim Nelson, Metropolitan Council New Brighton representative, introduced himself and <br />thanked Council for their commitment to the community. <br /> <br />Newly hired New Brh!hton Bulletin Editor, Christine Larter, introduced herself. <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Arntz announced a recent speed enforcement detail on Co. Rd.
