<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting ofthe New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, January 25,2000, at <br />7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Old Highway 8 NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Larson, Councilmembers Gunderman, Hoffman, Moore-Sykes, and Samuelson. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Ros Scaff, Community Development Specialist <br />Cary Teague, City Planner <br /> <br />Council Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Hoffman, seconded by Moore-Sykes, to WAIVE THE READING AND APPROVE THE JANUARY <br />11,2000, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes - None <br /> <br />Special Order of Business - State of the City Address for 2000 <br /> <br />The following is an excerpt from Mayor Larson's 2000 State of the City Address. After listening to Mayor Bob <br />Benke present 12 State of the City addresses, it seems strange to be presenting one. 1999 was a year in which many <br />achievements were accomplished and numerous plans put into action. <br /> <br />We all survived the Y2K scare and the new Comprehensive Plan process. Now we must try to carry out the plan that <br />was carefully designed after hundreds of hours of public meetings and planning sessions. Thanks again to everyone <br />for taking the time to provide input and advice. <br /> <br />Some of the other city activities in New Brighton included: <br />1. Continued street and utility improvements( 5.2 miles scheduled for 2000) <br />2. Sidewalk projects <br />3. Park improvements (rebuilding four park shelters into community meeting facilities and replacing old bridges <br />and improving paths & lighting at Hansen Park for 2000) <br />4. Athletic facility collaboration with ISO 621 (soccer and baseball at Highview) <br />5. 22nd Annual Town Hall Meeting <br />6. 131h Annual Antique Car Run <br />7. Stockyard Days <br />8. First annual NOP Grid Meetings, Fourteen meetings <br />9. Selection of a new Royal Family <br />10. City-wide election for Council and School Board <br /> <br />In Your Neighborhood: <br />1. Continued Neighborhood Oriented Policing Program (NOP) <br />
