<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />November 9, 1999 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Benke congratulated Larson, Moore-Sykes, Gunderman, and Hoffman (Team 2000) on <br />their election success. He thanked all those who participated in the campaign and voting <br />process which speaks well for New Brighton's future. <br /> <br />The Economic Development Commission (EDC) discussed the issue of the vacant Lunds <br />Grocery located within Brighton Village Shopping Center. The Center's property <br />manager has scheduled a strategic session to develop options, and the EDC encouraged <br />consideration of opportunities for significant reinvestment, and redevelopment ofthe <br />entire parcel. Delaune attended the EDC meeting, and believes the City has been very <br />supportive, and is optimistic that good ideas will be generated. Possible options and <br />ideas will be made available by the end of the month. <br /> <br />Fulton noted the significant redevelopment activities occurring at Silver Lk. Rd. and Rice <br />Creek Rd. The new SuperAmerica store has recently opened, Hollywood Video will open <br />soon, Brightwood Hills Golf Clubhouse is under construction, Meadowood Shores Senior <br />Housing is progressing. <br /> <br />Moore-Sykes is becoming acclimated to her position, and recently attended the New <br />Brighton Chamber's open house for businesses. <br /> <br />Announcements and <br />Updates <br /> <br />Team 2000 <br />Congratulations <br /> <br />Lunds/Brighton <br />Village Shopping <br />Center <br /> <br />Silver Lk. Rd. <br />Redevelopment <br />Activities <br /> <br />Moore-Sykes <br /> <br />Samuelson is pleased with the election results and is looking forward to working with this Samuelson <br />excellent group of people who will do their best to serve New Brighton in a positive way. <br /> <br />Larson thanked the voters for their support, and applauded the other candidates for their Larson <br />work. This was a good process, and is another step into the future. <br /> <br />Delaune thanked Council for the opportunity to serve as Councilmember of the Month, <br />and feels the City will do very well under the leadership of Team 2000. <br /> <br />Hoffman looks forward to being a part of Team 2000, and thanked the voters. <br /> <br />Benke noted that upcoming worksessions will finalize the 2000 Budget, and residents <br />should direct their comments to staff before next week. The Truth iin Taxation Budget <br />Hearing will be held December 6, and then Council will adopt the 2000 Budget on <br />December 14.
