Scholer property, 605 6th <br />Ave., was acquired for $158,000 and demolition will begin this week. Miles property, 639 <br />6th Ave., was acquired for $175,000 and used for police/fire training and demolition is this <br />week. A letter of offer in the amount of$129,900 was presented to the Ringwelski's, 624 <br />5th Ave., and they are currently looking at replacement housing. A letter of purchase in the <br />amount of $120,000 plus relocation has been presented to the owners of the Alano property, <br />620 5th Ave. Offer letter and purchase agreement has been presented to Tom Thumb <br />Stores, 615 Old Hwy 8, and the owners noted interest in relocating in the Village Center. <br />Larson noted Tom Thumb's interest in constructing a convenience store with gas pumps <br />and car wash. Staff intent is to make the site ready for construction by March 2000. <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT <br />THE RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PREPARATION AND EXECUTION OF A <br />PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR 642 5TH A VENUE NW (LARSON PROPERTY). <br /> <br />5 Ayes ~ 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Announccments and Updates <br /> <br />At the Truth in Taxation hearing held in September, Council approved a maximum 6.5% <br />levy increase for the 2000 Budget. Council and staff have worked to determine final <br />numbers, and staff intends to present a budget with an approximate 2.5% levy increase <br />which is consistent with the Consumer Price Index. <br /> <br />Fulton demonstrated the I~35W Corridor Coalition Web Site which contains an on-line <br />Geographical Information System (GIS) atlas. The National League of Cities recognized <br />"Remodeling Post World War II Homes" for its creativity. New Brighton published this <br />book in collaboration with other communities. <br /> <br />Gundennan encouraged everyone to vote on November 2. <br /> <br />Fulton explained the results ofthe speed trailer located along 3rd St. The trailer recorded, <br />during a 12-hour period, 790 vehicles and of that 85% traveled at the posted speed limit. <br />Only one vehicle reached speeds over 40 mph and was clocked at 43 mph. <br /> <br />Grimshaw thanked Council for the opportunity to serve as Councilmember of the Month. <br />As a member ofthe Public Safety Commission, she has been very impressed with City's <br />Public Safety Department. <br /> <br />Adiournment <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Hoffman, to ADJOURN THE MEETING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes- 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Meeting was acljounwd at 8: 10 p.m. <br /> <br />R~ <br /> <br />ATTEST: ~ Of"f\) <br />Margaret A.
