Flexibility may be allowed in certain performance standards for off- <br />street parking and green space setbacks. Enforcing the green space setback would <br />eliminate significant number of parking spaces. Previously, setbacks have been lessened <br />for nearby properties. Staff and Planning Commission recommend approval. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE ORDINANCE, REZONING SUBJECT PROPERTY FROM R-1A, <br />SINGLE F AMIL Y RESIDENTIAL TO B-4, DOWNTOWN BUSINESS; AND <br />WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT THE RESOLUTION APPROVING SP-212, <br />SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: <br />1. APPROVAL OF R-l44, REZONING TO B-4, DOWNTOWN BUSINESS. <br />2. SEVEN OFF -STREET STALLS MUST BE DESIGNATED FOR <br />HANDICAP PARKING. <br />3. FLEXIBILITY IS ALLOWED IN THE NUMBER OF OFF -STREET <br />PARKING SPACES REQUIRED, HOWEVER THE EXISTING 268 <br />ST ALLS MUST BE MAINTAINED. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Robert Mike, St. John Administrator, thanked staff and Council for their assistance. <br /> <br />In regards to the City's Contribution to Sunnyside School Playground, Samuelson said it <br />is contingent on receipt of matching contribution from School District. Donna Kares, <br />Playground Committee, thanked the City and noted recent funding raised by school staff <br />and students. However, funding is needed for the playground surface area. <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Hoffman, to INDICATE CITY'S WILLINGNESS <br />TO CONTRIBUTE $5,000.00 TO THE SUNNYSIDE PLAYGROUND PROJECT, <br />CONTINGENT ON SCHOOL DISTRICT MATCHING CONTRIBUTION; <br />FUNDING PROVIDED IN 1999 AND 2000 IN AMOUNT OF $2,400.00 AND <br />$2,600.00 RESPECTIVELY, SUCH FUNDS ORIGINATED FROM THE <br />COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT FUND. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Joan Kelly thanked Council for the opportunity to serve as Councilmember of the Month. <br /> <br />- <br />Adiournment <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelso}l, seconded by Hoffman, to ADJOURN THE MEETING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Meeting was adjourned at 10:07 p.m. <br /> <br />R~ <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />Margaret A.
