Anderson <br />explained that tennis' top 10 ranking in a nationwide poll has dropped to 25; and in-line <br />skating, hiking, and bicycling are becoming increasingly popular. Park usage has <br />changed dramatically over the past few years, and it is not unusual that a park is <br />scheduled four nights a week for soccer and baseball activities. <br /> <br />Fulton said the neighborhood meeting was extremely helpful in developing components of <br />the Master Park Plan. It was apparent the residents favored protection of the open space <br />aesthetics, additional parking, and installation of one tennis court. He believes <br />installation of one tennis court was the most appropriate action. <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Gunderman, to APPROVE INST ALLA TION OF <br />ONE TENNIS COURT AND OFF STREET PARKING NEAR OAKWOOD DR. <br />AND TO DIRECT PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR <br />THE TENNIS COURT AND PARKING LOT. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Fulton presented a letter requesting no-parking on the east side of 6th Ave. NW along the <br />west side of the New Brighton Care Center. The Care Center owner cites a problem with <br />snow removal, delivery access, and a potential access problems for emergency vehicles. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A NO PARKING ZONE ON THE <br />EST SITE OF 6TH A VENUE NW FROM 8TH STREET NW TO THE NEW <br />BRIGHTON CARE CENTER PARKING LOT. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Fulton presented bids for construction of the Brighton Corporate Park III E-Z Mini <br />Storage Pond and Storm Sewer. The three-acre pond and sewer will provide surface <br />water drainage needs for future development. Twelve bids were received. The low bid <br />was submitted by Barbarossa and Sons in the amount of $299,629.90, which was $64,000 <br />below the original project estimate. <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Samuelson, to A WARD THE BID FOR BRIGHTON <br />CORPORATE PARK III CONTRACT #4 E-Z MINI STORAGE POND AND <br />STORM SEWER, PROJECT 96-14 TO BARBARAOSSA AND SONS IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $299,629.90. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />City Planner Cary Teague presented recommendations for zoning ordinance amendments <br />within the 1-1, Light Industrial, and 1-2, Heavy Industrial Zoning Districts. Staff <br />received an inquiry from Midwest Kohlstad to relocate their manufacturing and truck <br />trailer repair business to Lakeview Point. This property is currently zoned 1-1, and does <br />not address trailer repair as an allowed use.
