CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL OF FOOD ESTABLISHMENT <br />LICENSE, CIGARETTE LICENSE, AND ELECTRONIC GAME <br />LICENSES FOR JAKE'S SPORTS CAFE LOCATED AT 790 WEST <br />COUNTY ROAD D. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Public Hearing <br /> <br />City Engineer Les Proper presented the special assessments for Project 97-1 (Street <br />Reconstruction), Project 98-6 (LaPorte Water Service Repair), and Project 98-7 (North <br />Cities Health Care Retaining Wall). <br /> <br />Project 97-1 involves the reconstruction of the following streets: 15th Ave. (17th St. to <br />18th St. and 18th St. to 19th Ter.); 18th Ave. (14th St. to Long Lk. Rd.); 19th Ave. <br />(14th St. to 16th St. and 17th St. to 18th St.); 20th Ave. (14th St. to Rice Creek Rd.); <br />21st Ave. (14th St. to 16th Ter.); 15th St. (Silver Lk. Rd. to 23rd Ave.); 16th St. (21st <br />Ave. to Long Lk. Rd.); 17th St. (Silver Lk. Rd. to 17th Ave. and Long Lk. Rd. to 15th <br />Ave.); 18th St. (20th Ave. to Long Lk. Rd. and Long Lk. Rd. to 15th Ave.); 19th St. <br />(20th Ave. to Long Lk. Rd.); 16th Ter. (21st Ave. to 20th Ave.); 19th Ter. (20th Ave. <br />to Long Lk. Rd. and 17th Ave. to 15th Ave.); Fredeen Rd.; Greenview Dr.; and Pike <br />Lk. Ct. (6th St.). <br /> <br />The project area contains 370 residential lots and includes the removal of old bituminous <br />surfacing, installation of storm sewer and water system improvements, sanitary sewer <br />repair, street excavation and grading, aggregate base, concrete curb and gutter repair, <br />bituminous surfacing, and boulevard repair. The contract also included the milling and <br />overlaying of Pike Lk. Dr. between 13th St. and 14th St. <br /> <br />The total project cost was $1,379,933.96, and of that amount $311,635.65 would be <br />special assessment against benefitting properties at a rate of $842.26/10t. The <br />remainder, $1,068,298.31, would be the City's cost. Proper said the original estimate <br />was $1,050/1ot which staff was able to reduced due to a favorable bid. The Pike Lake <br />Manor townhouses would be assessed $280.72/unit, the original estimate was $350/unit. <br /> <br />The project included the replacement of watermain sections at 21st Ave. and 19th St. at <br />a cost of $40,421.61 which will be paid from the Water Utility Fund. The sanitary <br />sewer mains were repaired in three locations at a cost of $8,238.20 and will be paid <br />from the Sanitary Sewer Utility Fund.
