I

I

,

as follows:

484 cars going east on No. Innsbruck (toward Silver Lake
Road, and presumably the freeway, as most turned
right at the light on Silver Lake Road--this is
potential conflicting traffic for left turns on to Minar
Road and represents approximately 4-5 cars/minute and
was pretty evenly distributed over the 106 minute time
block--there were often 3-5 cars stacked in the right
turn lane in front of McDonald's;

142 cars turning left from North Innsbruck Drive on to 27th
(presumably a large percentage were Minar Ford employees
or service customers, most of the traffic was
concentrated in the 7:30--8:30 time block;

219 left turns from Silver Lake Road on to North Innsbruck Drive
(this represents traffic that would include some of the
Minar/McDonald's traffic but also traffic competing
for roadway space in that first one-half block as 29
entered the bank and many proceeded on down the road.

I did not count the traffic entering McDonald's as the changes will
impact that traffic minimally--however it should be noted that many
left turns were made into McDonald's during the first time block
and that cars were often stacked in the left turn lane

other observations of note:

* traffic was obstructed by people parking in the roadway
in front of the bank and between their two entrances--
cars trying to get around the left turners into
McDonald's use the bike lane to get around on the right
and proceed down North Innsbruck to the West

It should be noted that this is only a rough sample during
summer morning peak hours and could vary considerably depending on
the day of the week or time of the year. For instance, it is
vacation season now, and so the traffic levels could be diminished
for that reason. It is also probable that traffic will move more
slowly and cautiously in slippery winter conditions as this is a
notable intersection for winter problems. Minar will also probably
have more business in the winter with car malfunctions and accident
repairs. It is also often the case that traffic is effected on
Silver Lake Road by slippery conditions that prevent some cars from
going south up the hill and contributes to collisions going north
down the hill to the light at North Innsbruck.

However, these data convince me that some of the assumptions
in the traffic study are not applicable to our situation. The
biggest surprise to me was the amount of traffic going east on
North Innsbruck Drive to access silver Lake Road and probably the
freeway. This 4-5 cars a minute during the entire AM rush hour
