The 1999 General
Election ballot would contain two four year Councilmember terms, and a Special Election to serve the remaining
two years of Gregori's term, Candidates will need to decide which term to file for election, The individual elected
to the two-year term would take office immediately after the vote is certified, individuals elected to the four year
terms would take office January 1, 2000,

Because there are currently four Councilmembers, there is potential for a 2/2 vote. In the event of a 2/2 vote, the
Mayor would cast a second vote or tie breaker,

Benke acknowledged this has been a very difficult decision and noted that each candidate is eminently qualified,
and Council would feel comfortable and confident working with either candidate,

Council recommended the appointment of Ann Hoffman to the vacant Councilmember position, Benke noted
Hoffman's extensive seven year involvement in various Municipal Advisory Commissions.

Council thanked Flahave for his interest in the appointment.

Council action on Ann Hoffman's appointment would occur at the April 28, 1998, Council Meeting,

Motion by Larson, seconded by Samuelson, to ADJOURN THE MEETING.

4 Ayes:-.o -Nayes, Motion Carried.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.

~7
~" /
7flz / L-_

Robert J.
