The <br />reconstruction of Rice Crk. Rd. would involve widening, curb, gutter, and storm sewer. <br />Staff recommends the centerline be offset between Stinson Blvd. and Silver Lk, Rd. to <br />match existing sections. The $90,000 project cost would be paid by MSA funds. <br /> <br />Gregori asked if this sidewalk would contain sloping curbcuts for disabled individuals. <br />Proper confirmed there will be curbcuts also known as "Pedestrian Ramps." <br /> <br />One resident asked if they will preserve the large Oak tree located on the Salem Baptist <br />Church property, Staff will investigate, <br /> <br />Larry Olson, 1909 Rice Crk. Rd., strongly supports the sidewalk and installation of a <br />semi-four at the intersection of Silver Lk. Rd, and Rice Crk. Rd, <br /> <br />Resident, 1940 Silver Lk. Rd., asked if the mail route will be changed, Proper said the <br />mail route would not be affected, <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Larson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION ORDERING CONSTRUCTION OF PROJECT 97-5, <br />RICE CREEK ROAD SIDEWALK. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />In regards to the 1998 Compensation Adjustment for the City Manager, Benke requested <br />this item be continued to the March 10 Council Meeting. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Larson, to CONTINUE CONSIDERATION OF <br />THE 1998 COMPENSATION ADJUSTMENT FOR CITY MANAGER. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Fulton presented the City's participation in Operation NightCAP, The State Patrol has a <br />federal grant for alcohol saturation patrols. Local agencies may participate and the grant <br />will pay officer's overtime and some fringe benefits. Each city will provide their own <br />vehicles. Monitoring will focus on 1-694, and the City will provide two officers. <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Larson, to AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER <br />TO EXECUTE A GRANT CONTRACT WITH THE MINNESOTA <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY. STATE PATROL DMSION, FOR <br />OPERATION NIGHTCAP. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Kevin Locke presented the redevelopment proposal <br />for the northwest corner of Cleveland and Co. Rd. D, Nutec proposes construction of a <br />12,150 sq, ft., three story building and space for Ken's Market and Higher Grounds <br />Coffee Shop. Nutec is seeking $227,000 in City assistance.
