Rd, flooding situation. The Barr Engineering
proposed option involves the installation of a 60-inch arch pipe relief storm sewer from
the low point on Long Lk. Rd. west of Kari Ln. to the Pike Lk. channel box culvert; and
installation of high capacity catch basins on the box culvert to intercept drainage from
the south. This option meets the la-year level of service for storm sewers and the 100-
year level of protection for the Kari Ln. homes, The residents support this option.

A small berm will be installed on the southeast corner of 14th St. and 16th Ave. to keep
running water from jumping the curb and flowing into the low area between Kari Ln,
and 16th Ave, The berm will be located on the City boulevard and cost less than $500.
A restriction prohibiting filling or building in the low area will be initiated, and residents
would sign a declaration of covenant for any lot portions below elevation 870,0.

The total estimated project cost is $256,600, and the City is pursing two funding
sources, One source is a Hazardous Mitigation Grant through the Minnesota
Department of Public Safety, Another possibility is funding through special legislation
which Fulton will schedule time with State Senator Steve Novak to discuss. The fall
back plan includes a combination of the City Storm Water Utility Fund and City and
County State Aid funds. County and City State Aids could be utilized for up to 55 % of
the total project cost.

Council Business

1998 Customer Fee
Register
Report 97-268
Resolution 97-088

Certifying Delinquent
Utilities
Report 97-269
Resolution 97-089

Kari Lane and Long
Lake Road Flooding
Option
Report 97-270
