<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, August 26, 1997, <br />at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Larson, and Samuelson. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br />Erny Mattila, City Planner <br />Tom Terry, Planning Intern <br /> <br />Mayor Benke welcomed Councilmember of the Month Pat Culbert. <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Council A~enda <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Samuelson, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL AGENDA. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Benke amended page two, paragraph one, third sentence, to read "Interviews will be <br />scheduled August 28, and a decision will be made no later than September 2" . <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE AMENDED AUGUST 12, 1997, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Cable Advisory <br />Commission - July 10, 1997. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Kelly Schultz, Recreation Program Supervisor, will retire from the City after many years <br />of service. She was instrumental in the coordination of the senior citizens' rec programs. <br /> <br />Mayor Benke PROCLAIMED KELLY SCHULTZ AN HONORARY <br />AMBASSADOR OF THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON. <br /> <br />Kay Andrews, Northwest Youth and Family Services (NWYFS) Executive Director, said <br />the current joint powers agreement does not accurately reflect NWYFS' relationship with <br />the municipalities. The Roseville City Attorney in cooperation with the NWYFS drafted <br />a revised agreement which clarifies municipal funding allocations. The proposed 1998 <br />funding allocation for each municipality would be $1.20/capita. New Brighton's 1997 <br />allocation was $29,410 which amounted to $1.42/capita, however, the 1998 allocation <br />would be $26,788.
