Dr. right~of-way
(ROW), and the garage's front corner is 32 ft. from that ROW. The addition would
place the garage front corner 15 ft. from the ROW while the rear corner would be
setback 17 ft. The home is close to the 1-694 sound wall and landscape would soften the
addition's impact. Adjacent properties are setback 30 ft., but nearby homes have less
than 30 ft. setbacks. The request appears to be visually compatible with nearby homes.

Garage Addition - Dee
Lere
Report 97-134

Benke confirmed the request is not just additional garage area, but living and office
space. Mattila said the applicant, Dee Lere, proposes to add living space above the
addition. A mother-in-law apartment is permitted under code, however, internal access
to the home is required and occupants must share kitchen facilities. Lere understands
the code requirements and the intent is for relatives to live in the addition versus renters.
