<br />-I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, November 26, 1996, <br />at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Larson, Samuelson and Williams. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Barbara Jeanetta, Assistant to the City Manager <br />John Kelley, Police Chief <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Erny Mattila, City Planner <br />Les Proper, City Engineer <br /> <br />Mayor Benke welcomed Councilmember of the Month, George Gregori. <br /> <br />Council A ~enda <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Larson, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Williams, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 12, 1996, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Cable Advisory <br />Commission - September 19, 1996; Economic Development Commission - October 8, <br />1996; Park, Recreation, and Natural Resources Commission - May 1 and October 2, <br />1996; Planning Commission - October 15, 1996; Public Safety Commission - September <br />19, 1996. <br /> <br />Williams requested the final versions of approved commission meeting minutes clearly <br />state final approval. Benke noted in the October 15, 1996, Planning Commission minutes <br />that the resident at 240 Wexford Heights Dr. is Mike Spielmann. <br /> <br />Assistant to the City Manager, Barbara Jeanetta, introduced David Eichers, Cable <br />Advisory Commission (CAe) Chair. Eichers said their 1996 success illustrates efforts by <br />former commissioners including Stan McDonald who developed a mission statement and <br />financial plan which aided in planning the commission's future course. CAC members <br />are: Ruth Mason, Kim Moore-Sykes, Siobhan Parnicky, Lynn Redlinger, Jill Teetzel, <br />and Robert Vogel. Four members are skilled in television programming, and all have <br />made significant and valuable contributions. It is Eichers' sincere pleasure to work with <br />them. He noted the many volunteers who assisted in the production of 65 programming <br />hours. The comrni~sion was able to provide much programming, in addition to staying <br />within budget. Future programming will feature many local interest issues.
