I

I

I

Council Meeting Minutes
June 10, 1996

Page 5

Council Business. continued

Williams confirmed that vehicle barriers will be installed at the time the trail is
constructed. Anderson explained that permanent poles are placed at both trail edges,
and a center pole will be installed which only maintenance personnel can unlock and pull
down so that they can access the park for maintenance. Benke asked if the other
accesses will have this arrangement. Anderson said the only other park with barrier
control is Hansen Park. Typically, this has not been a problem at other parks.

Fulton presented the bids for the overcoat painting of the 5th St. SW Water Tower.
Four bids were received and staff recommends the bid be awarded to Tenyer Coatings in
the amount of $102,980. Staff recommends the painting be performed in the fall when
water usage is down and there is less need for the water tower. Staff recommends the
existing light green color be replaced with a color shade called chowder.

Motion by Williams, seconded by Larson, to AWARD THE BID FOR THE
CLEANING AND OVERCOAT PAINTING OF THE 5TH STREET SW WATER
TOWER TO TENYER COATINGS IN THE BID AMOUNT OF $102,980 TO BE
PERFORMED ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 9-SEPTEMBER 30, 1996; AND
RECOMMEND THAT THE PAINT COLOR SELECTION BE CHOWDER.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

Announcement.,; and Updates

Gunderman noted that the police squads are without hubcaps. Benke raised the same
concern last year, and said the reason the hubcaps were removed is that they did not
want the brakes to overheat. Gunderman asked staff to research.

On June 27, the Ramsey County League of Local Governments will hold a meeting at
the Family Service Center to discuss the merger of the Public Health Departments.

Guldan said the Rotary Club purchased a computer for public use at the Family Service
Center. Benke feels this is an opportunity for seniors to learn how to use a computer.

The Rice Creek Watershed District is looking for members for the advisory committee.

Benke encouraged residents to review the Metropolitan Council's recommendations for
plans to address the future growth trends of the metropolitan area.

Adjournment

Motion by Larson, seconded by Williams, to ADJOURN THE MEETING.

5 Ayes'- 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:51 p.m.

~.

ATTEST;

Council Business

Innsbruck Trail
Report 96-125

Water Tower Painting
Bids
Report 96-126

Announcements and
Updates

Squad Car Hubcaps

RCLLG Meeting

FSC Computer

Rice Creek Committee

Met Council

Adjournment
