<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, February 13, 1996, at <br />7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Samuelson and Williams. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Jill Hanson, Economic Development Specialist <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br /> <br />Council ~enda <br /> <br />Gunderman requested a discussion regarding athletic fIelds be added to the agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Gunderman, to APPROVE THE AMENDED <br />COUNCIL AGENDA. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Williams, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE JANUARY 23, 1996, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Public Policy <br />Commission - November 29, 1995. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />City Manager Matt Fulton feels New Brighton is very fortunate to have an organization <br />such as the Eagles which has made many contributions to the community and the Family <br />Service Center. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Williams, to EXPRESS APPRECIA nON TO THE <br />NEW BRIGHTON EAGLES AERIE #3718 FOR THEIR GENEROUS <br />DONA TlON; AND WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT THE RESOLUTION <br />ACCEPTING THEIR $1,400.00 DONA TlON. <br /> <br />4 Ayes ~ 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Elwyn Tinklandberg, Mayor of Blaine and North Metro Mayors Association (NMMA) <br />member, explained that the NMMA participates actively in issues of importance to the <br />northern suburbs. Issues currently addressed include: transportation and funding, <br />housing, local government aid, property tax reform, business retention, and economic <br />development.
