<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, November 14, 1995, <br />at 7:35 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Larson, Samuelson and Williams. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Gunderman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Maurie Anderson, Park and Recreation Director <br />Mark Frieden, Fire Chief <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Barbara Jeanetta, Assistant to the City Manager <br />John Kelley, Police Chief <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Erny Mattila, City Planner <br /> <br />Council Al1enda <br /> <br />Benke requested that recognition of an award for the New Brighton Crime Watch <br />Block Clubs be added to the Special Order of Business agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Samuelson, to APPROVE THE AMENDED <br />COUNCIL AGENDA. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Larson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE OCTOBER 24, 1995, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Cable Advisory <br />Commission - August 17 and September 21, 1995; Economic Development <br />Commission - September 12 and October 10, 1995; and Public Policy Commission- <br />September 27, 1995. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Council Agenda <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Commission Minute~ <br /> <br />Special Order of <br />Business <br /> <br />Police Chief John Kelley introduced Neighborhood Crime Watch organizers Corporal <br />Ed Werneke and Officers Dan Olson and Bill Sortor. Werneke said New Brighton Crime Watch Award <br />residents held 45 successful block parties during National Night Out. Werneke <br />presented a plaque to Council acknowledging the award recognizes New Brighton's <br />rank as 23rd in the nation for event representation. Benke commended the organizers <br />of the event and its participants. <br /> <br />Dennis Guldan, Highway 96 Task Force, noted that New Brighton's costs for the <br />proposed street lighting along Hwy 96 would be $2,500 and that includes wiring. <br /> <br />Hwy 96 Concept Plan <br />Report 95-201 <br />
