<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, May 9, 1995, at <br />7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Larson, Samuelson and Williams. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Bob Jacobson, Police Lieutenant <br />Erny Mattila, City Planner <br />Les Proper, City Engineer <br /> <br />Council Agenda <br /> <br />Gunderman requested a discussion regarding creation of a Park Ranger position be <br />added to Council Business Agenda. Benke added a Special Order of Business item. <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Samuelson, to APPROVE THE AMENDED <br />COUNCIL AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE APRIL 25, 1995, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Cable Advisory <br />Commission - March 16, 1995; and Public Policy Commission - March 22, 1995. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />On behalf of the citizens of New Brighton, Benke offered condolences to the family <br />of Diane Buntrock. Mrs. Buntrock's son was charged with second degree murder in <br />her disappearance. Benke feels dishearten that this tragedy occurred. He noted the <br />quick professional response and support the New Brighton Police Department and <br />other agencies showed in this matter. He requested staff to contact the Public Safety <br />Commission to evaluate and ensure that residents who are having difficulties in their <br />lives know that the community, Police and the Northwest Youth and Family Service <br />(NWYFS) are available for support.
