Because of this, NWYFS' effort for their capital program did not fit within the new system. Fulton suggested the City send a letter supporting the $150,000 grant for NWYFS' new facility. Benke supports the effort for this facility. Larson said the NWYFS has already raised $1.2 million and their goal is $1.5 million. Larson said Ramsey County used a special solution to wash away graffiti along Long Lake Road, but there are still areas where graffiti needs to be removed. He feels the City should purchase a machine similar to the County's. Fulton will investigate. Gunderman noted that Report 95-066 did not include vendor names. Benke said many groups are interested in the reutilization effort of the Twin City Army Arsenal Plant. Fulton is on a committee to develop a strategy for this land use. Announcements and Updates NWYFS Facility Graffiti Report 95-066 Reutilization Committee Benke said the Multi-city Senior Center Task Force has disbanded. Because of Senior Center existing needs, city representatives from New Brighton, Shoreview, Mounds View and Arden Hills will consider other opportunities. Council, Park Board, and senior representatives will meet on May 15 to develop a local strategy. Williams said the Rice Creek Center would have provided an opportunity for a senior center, but delays forced a decision; and it is time to move forward and look at other options. Larson said the annual Senior Citizen Prom was a success. The League of Women Voters will celebrate their 30th anniversary on June 8. LWV Celebration The Arden Hills Library will celebrate their 25th Anniversary on May 23. The Police Department and Neighborhood Watch Groups will meet on May 21. Williams sat on the Association of Minnesota Municipalities's (AMM) Innovative City and Peace Maker Awards selection committee. He noted the programs implemented by the Anoka Police Department which deals with juvenile justice; and Hopkins' establishment of residential service districts for improved housing.
