<br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />October 11, 1994 <br /> <br />Page 14 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Fulton presented the budgetary adjustment for the Family Service Center. <br /> <br />Overall, staff is pleased with the progress of the construction component of the $5 <br />million project. The proposed adjustment pertains to the area of furniture, fixtures, <br />and equipment which is necessary to ensure that the Center is equipped sufficiently. <br />Even with this change, the total cost will be only 4.2% over the projections. The <br />adjustment requires that $180,000 be appropriated from the municipal reserve fund. <br /> <br />Anderson said the Park and Rec offices will move into the Center before <br />Thanksgiving. The Center will open on December 16, and the tentative date for the <br />Grand Opening will be January 14, 1995. Gunderman will provide Anderson with a <br />mailing list of organizations involved with families and children. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Williams, to AUTIlORIZE THE USE OF <br />$180,000 FROM THE MUNICIPAL RESERVE FUNDS FOR THE FAMILY <br />SERVICE CENTER PROJECT. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Fulton presented the purchase of strength. equipment for the Family Service Center. <br /> <br />The second floor would include weight, cardiovascular oriented and strength <br />building equipment. Staff explored options for an overall fitness area, and found <br />weight equipment to be a very expensive component. Based on budgetary <br />considerations, it will be necessary to consider a budget amendment to adequately <br />handle all FF&E elements.
