<br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />August 23, 1994 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />SDecial Order of Business. continued <br /> <br />Angela Witzke, CAC, feels privileged to be a CAC member, and is currently <br />working on the editing of the Miss New Brighton Style Show. <br /> <br />Quasar Abbas, CAC, is honored to a member and feels that McDonald is a <br />motivational chairperson. <br /> <br />McDonald noted the work of another CAC member, Gary Williams, who has been <br />instrumental in accomplishing many programming objectives. Bob Keim, CAC, is <br />researching telecommunications projects for the City; and Bob Kaul, CAC, has <br />developed the budgeting planning process. <br /> <br />Bob Grahek, CAC, has been involved in the purchasing of the cablecasting <br />equipment for the Council Chambers and many other video enhancement projects. <br /> <br />Andre Barte, Cable Technician, said his responsibilities include the videotaping of <br />Council meetings and other special projects. <br /> <br />McDonald said the CAC met with the Mounds View Cable Commission to develop <br />an interrelationship for future video productions. This coming year the CAC will <br />begin a reachout program to work with New Brighton clubs, organizations, churches <br />and schools to determine any video or cable needs. <br /> <br />On behalf of the Council, Benke thanked the CAC for their tremendous <br />enhancement of the City's governmental channel programming. <br /> <br />Gunderman asked if research was done to cablecast area church services. Morstad <br />noted restrictions where government channels are not allowed to broadcast programs <br />of religious or political viewpoints. McDonald confirmed that government access <br />channels are restricted from televising religious services, but noted the outstanding <br />holiday services conducted by area churches. Gunderman asked if those restrictions <br />are in effect for area businesses. Morstad said local businesses could be interviewed <br />from a viewpoint of why they chose New Brighton to locate their business, but their <br />product or services cannot be advertised or promoted. <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Gunderman, to RECEIVE THE REPORT OF <br />1994 CABLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />A video was shown of the services provided by Northwest Youth and Family <br />Services (NWYFS). <br /> <br />Paul Ciernia, NWYFS, said the NWYFS is a private, non-profit agency committed <br />to supporting the development needs of youth and family within the community. <br />They offer counseling and support services to youth, families and the community. <br />Services provided are: Counseling/Mental Health, Young Fathers Program, <br />Community Restitution, Awareness Seminars, Delinquency Assessments, <br />Employment Services, Teen Health Center, and Youth Learning. <br /> <br />Special Order of <br />Business <br /> <br />CAe Presentation <br />Report 94-189 <br /> <br />NWYFS Presentation <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />
