Locke added <br />that Medical Devices would prefer that the structure be demolished and negotiations <br />with the current property owner are ongoing. Larson noted his preference that this <br />be accomplished, Locke agreed. <br /> <br />Glen Winchell, Medical Devices, noted their preference that arrangements be made <br />so that the structure could be demolished during the construction of their new <br />facility. Belair Builders approached the property owner regarding removal of the <br />structure, but the owner needs that building for storage at this time. Hopefully, <br />arrangements could be made to clear that site before the Medical Devices building is <br />completed by Thanksgiving. He showed a colored rendering of the building and <br />complimented staff for their efforts in moving this project forward. <br /> <br />The Council noted their excitement in the completion of project. <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Williams, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION AND DELIVERY <br />OF A CONTRACT FOR PRIVATE REDEVELOPMENT BY AND BETWEEN <br />THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON AND MEDICAL DEVICES. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Announcements and UDdates <br /> <br />Ramsey County has begun their strategic planning efforts and a staff member will be <br />involved in the process. <br /> <br />The Family Service Center project is going along well and Fulton suggested the <br />Council be given a tour of the project's construction. <br /> <br />A Five Year Financial Plan worksession will be held on August 9. <br /> <br />Williams noted that the Northwest Youth and Family Service report states that New <br />Brighton did not have participants in the Young Fathers Program. Larson noted that <br />participation in the program is voluntary; and there are young fathers in this area, <br />but they chose not to participate. Williams questioned that maybe these fathers had <br />not been aware of the program.
