<br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 8, 1994 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Special Order of Business. continued <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Accurate Component Sales will begin construction this spring of a 900,000 sq. ft. <br />office/warehouse in the Brighton Corporate Park Phase 1. Prospective developers <br />are being contacted for Phases n and m. <br /> <br />The Lakeview Business Park includes the newly constructed U. S. West Warehouse <br />which has an estimated value of $3.8 million. Another new 83,000 sq. ft. <br />office/warehouse was recently approved by Council. <br /> <br />Recent development at the Rice Creek Center includes a new 8,080 sq. ft. <br />commercial/retail building to be completed in early 1994. <br /> <br />Other projects included: a 25 unit handicapped housing project under consideration; <br />a proposed tennis bubble concept for the NW quadrant; the new $5 million <br />Remmele headquarters building; and five Habitat for Humanity homes. The City's <br />"Symbols of Success" marketing campaign was featured in the January issue of the <br />Coroorate R((port. <br /> <br />Gunderman asked if these projects created new jobs. Benke noted that Remmele <br />and U.S. West both have a mix of blue collar and technical positions. <br /> <br />Council thanked the EDC members for their efforts. Council commended Mr. <br />Johnson and his company Computerized Mailing Systems (CMS) in receiving the <br />honor of being named "Industry of the Year" in 1993.
