.I

I

,

sited by Mori are looked at a little closer. YOU will find that the only way a 8 foot path is
qoinQ to be safer is by desiqnatinq lanes for traffic flow
(east/west/walkinq/ridinQ/skatinq) and of course than yOU have the problem of
enforcinQ the correct usaQe. A path built for both walkers and ridinQ without proper
markinqs will likely increase the rate of incidence of accidents, Every year in
Minnesota there is a fairly hiqh incident rate of accidents where walkers and hit by bike
riders. If the the path is for the purpose of enterinq the park only. a natural trail
indicated by elevation should be more than sufficient. A natural trail would allow
us to keep the beauty of the park, not encourage multiple types of traffic
and yet allow residents of the west side access to the park.

Safety factors: One of the main reasons stated to me by Mori, for an 8 foot path was
that of vehicular access for park maintenance. Anytime you put a road assess in
the back of a residents, you are increasing the possibility of vandalism.
Allowing vehicles to drive within 5-6 feet of our property line increases
the possibility of injuries from such traffic. Other crimes such as child-
kidnapping and rape are also consideration.

Posted signs and chains are not esthetically pleasing to look at and are not that
affective.

I would ask you the maior and YOU the city council members to please
take into consideration the aforementioned items. Please allow us to live
in the neighborhood that we thought we were moving into to build our
dream house. Please allow us to live in safe and serene environment.

Thank You
Glenna Burleson
