Council Meeting Minutes December 14, 1993 Page 12 Council Business. continued I Rebelein noted that a subcommittee report should fIrst go to the entire commission. The commission would decide upon its action, and then that decision is relayed only to the Council. Council would then act on the issue and that information would not publicized until formal Council action is taken. This is a fundamental and basic procedure, and should be included as general policy for boards and commissions. Rebelein noted that many board and commission members have not formally met the Councilmembers. She proposes that sometime during the annual appointment process, Council and commission members should be brought together to discuss their goals and ideas. Williams feels the group has developed some very good ideas. Benke agrees that a reception and orientation for commission members would be useful and suggested it be schedule to be held at the January 25 Council meeting. Williams feels that Rebelein is a valuable resource and asked if she would be interested in continuing her work on this project after she steps down from her position as Councilmember. Council thanked Rebelein for her excellent work on the project. I Announcements and Uodates The Ramsey County League of Local Governments holiday banquet will be held on December 15. The Senior Citizen Center Task Force meeting has been rescheduled to January. The Rotary will sponsor a holiday get together on December 18 at Highview. Rebelein asked if she could reapply as the New Brighton representative on the Senior Citizen Center Task Force. The City will hold a reception honoring Rebelein on December 20 at 6:00 p.m. The North Metro Mayors Annual Board Meeting will be held on December 15.
