<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 23, 1993 <br /> <br />Page 1 2 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Rebelein, to GRANT A PEDDLER'S LICENSE <br />TO BLUE BELL ICE CREAM TO SELL ICE CREAM FROM A TRUCK. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Gunderman proposed a work session with the Chamber of Commerce and <br />the Council to review and renew their partnership. <br /> <br />Benke and Childs have met with the Chamber of Commerce President to <br />begin the process of scheduling a joint Council/Chamber work session. <br /> <br />Announcements and Uodates <br /> <br />The City has been awarded a $3,750 tree planting grant with the funds to <br />be used in the new Innsbruck Park. <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Gunderman, to DIRECT STAFF TO <br />PREPARE A RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION FOR THE 7TH GRADE <br />IRONDALE TRAVELING GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM; AND INVITE THEM TO <br />BE RECOGNIZED AT A FUTURE COUNCIL MEETING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Blue Bell Peddler <br />license <br />Report 93-078 <br /> <br />Chamber/Council <br />work session <br /> <br />Announcements & <br />Uodates <br /> <br />Tree Grant <br /> <br />Irondale Basketball <br />Team <br /> <br />The City Councils of New Brighton, Fridley, Mounds View and Spring Lake <br />Park will meet March 30 to receive the report of the Regional Senior Center Senior Center <br />Task Force. <br /> <br />Williams said the annual Fire Department fundraiser will be May 7. <br /> <br />Gunderman requested the completion of a feasibility study for a family <br />service center in New Brighton. <br /> <br />Childs said the City and the school district have had informal discussions <br />regarding a possible joint venture since the recent school district <br />referendum allocated $900,000 for new construction of space for Early <br />Childhood family education programs in New Brighton. Both the Head Start <br />Program and Northwest Family Services have also voiced concerns about <br />additional space needs in New Brighton. He noted a site which the City <br />received for non-payment of back taxes which could be used for a family <br />service center. <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Larson, to DIRECT STAFF TO EXPLORE <br />WITH OTHER ENTITIES THE CONCEPT OF AN INTER-AGENCY MUL TI- <br />FACETED FAMILY SERVICE CENTER FOR NEW BRIGHTON; AND REQUEST <br />STAFF AND COUNCIL TO IDENTIFY ORGANIZATIONS WHICH COULD BE <br />INVOLVED SUCH A PROJECT. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Fire Fundraiser <br /> <br />Family Service <br />Center <br />
