<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />January 26, 1993 <br /> <br />Page 1 6 <br /> <br />Council Business, continued <br /> <br />Council noted their excitement of the proposal. <br /> <br />A Rottlund Representative said the company anticipates the undertaking of <br />the project. <br /> <br />Rebelein verified that the other downtown merchants will be notified. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Williams, APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE <br />MAYOR AND CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE EXCLUSIVE NEGOTIATION <br />AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN ROTTLUND HOMES, INC. AND THE CITY <br />CONCERNING REDEVELOPMENT OF SITE A OF THE DOWNTOWN. <br /> <br />5 Ayes. 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Hanson presented the negotiation agreement between the City and the New <br />Brighton Care Center. <br /> <br />The Care Center proposing to expand its current facility to include new and <br />expanded dining facilities, therapy area, day space for residents, new <br />reception area, increased parking, and 13 additional rooms. <br /> <br />The project requires the purchase and relocation of 3 properties immediately <br />to the north of the facility. City assistance in property acquisition and <br />relocation is needed to implement this project. Ramsey County Community <br />Block Grant Funds may be available to assist in the cost of the project. The <br />County expressed an interest in the project because of the low and <br />moderate income level people who would benefit. <br /> <br />The Care Center requests an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement between the <br />City. The Center has agreed to make a $10,000 deposit of good faith <br />when the agreement is executed. <br /> <br />The EDC supports the project and feels its would be consistent with the <br />redevelopment efforts. <br /> <br />Hanson confirmed the out-patient therapy is provided by the facility. <br /> <br />Mike Chies, Care Center owner, looks forward to the expansion. <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Rebelein, to APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE <br />MAYOR AND CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN EXCLUSIVE <br />NEGOTIATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE NEW BRIGHTON CARE <br />CENTER AND THE CITY CONCERNING EXPANSION OF THE NEW <br />BRIGHTON CARE CENTER. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Announcements and Uodates <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Rottlund Co. - Site A <br />Downtown Area <br />Agreement <br />Report 93-022 <br /> <br />New Brighton Care <br />Center Expansion <br />Plan <br />Report 93-023 <br /> <br />The league of Minnesota Cities has chosen Jim Miller, City of Minnetonka, <br />to become their new Executive Director.
