I

I

I

Council Meeting Minutes
January 26, 1993

Page 4

State of the City Address, continued

The Council and Staff recently concluded our annual planning session with
a mutual commitment to build on our successes by rewriting our mission
document to reflect a community based, customer focus, with a willingness
to change our perspectives on what services we provide.....and how. We
will be reporting on our progress at the March 20th Town Hall Meeting.
We encourage you all to attend.

There is much more that should be said about our successes and our near
successes, the many committed people who have helped, and the many
ongoing tasks needed to provide effective, cost efficient services because
we continue to lead in many ways. But let me close by concluding that we
do have a brighter future ahead --
. external trends are improving,
. we have a strong local base of operation, and
. we have talented, capable residents, staff and council.

Our greatest challenge is to activate more friends and neighborhoods so
that we can progress and succeed together. We look forward to a positive
productive future in New Brighton. I am eager to get going on the tasks at
hand. Please.....join us in making New Brighton a place where diversity is
valued and where our neighbors are our friends, and where we can feel
secure.
