I

I

I

Council Meeting Minutes
October 27, 1992

Page 8

Announcements and Uodates, continue

The Focus Group information has been compiled and transformed into a
survey. The survey will be sent to each New Brighton household and the
results will be discussed at public meetings held November 16 and 17,
Benke feels the surveys should not be sent out too close to Election Day,
being that opinions may be different due to campaign issues. Gunderman
noted that the focus group feedback validated his view of what the City is
all about, Williams feels the timing of the election may make people in a
more responsive frame of mind. Childs suggested that the surveys be sent
a few days after Election Day to avoid confusion with the large amount of
campaign literature, Larson feels the timing is not important, and
anticipates the results,

The Windsor Green Townhome Association requested additional time to
research the Silver Lake Road Reconstruction Project, Childs suggested to
Council that final action be discussed at the November 24 Council Meeting,
Williams noted a landscape medium on 35E which could be downsized and
installed on Silver Lake Road,

Announcements &
Uodates

Resident Survey

Silver Lake Road
Project

Gunderman noted the community center concept had been identified by the Senior Center
focus groups and asked how it affects the senior center. Williams said the
survey should not reflect the mission of the four-city Senior Center Task
Force, He feels it would be difficult at this point to shift gears and does not
feel the other cities would be interested in a New Brighton community
center, Rebelein, who is also a Senior Center Task Force Member, agreed
with Williams, Benke senses that the Senior Center Task Force is getting
very close to a final recommendation, The Senior Center Task Force has
scheduled public informational meetings on January 13, 14, 27, and 28,
The next Senior Center Task Force meeting is November 4.

The Northwest Family Services awards banquet will be November 5,

Larson noted concern in the schedule delay of the grading and sodding of
the Christ the King Church east pond. Childs said staff spoke with Church
representatives regarding acceleration of the schedule. Rebelein noted that
the contractor changed the schedule without consulting the City.

Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Williams, to REQUEST THE CITY
ATTORNEY AND CITY MANAGER TO REPORT BACK TO COUNCIL ON
OCTOBER 28, 1992, REGARDING THE DRAINAGE PROBLEMS ON THE
CHRIST THE KING CHURCH SITE,

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

Motion by Williams, seconded by Gunderman, to CONTINUE THE MEETING
TO WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1992, AT 6:30 P,M,

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

~;l~L
' . y~, / . ~-
Robert J.
