Proper noted that in some cases, concrete has <br />worked out well, but it also can be a real problem. Some of the City's <br />concrete streets have needed very expensive upkeep and repairs. Rebelein <br />requested information regarding the feasibility of concrete streets. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Williams, to APPROVE THE BID FOR <br />1992 STREET SEALCOATING AND CONCRETE CURB AND SIDEWALK <br />REPAIR FROM ALLIED BLACKTOP COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$50,847.99. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Announcements and Uodates <br /> <br />A public meeting relating to the Plume Groundwater Recovery System will <br />be held on August 18 at Shoreview Community Center. <br /> <br />Council Busine~s <br /> <br />'992 Street <br />Sealcoating Bid <br />Report 92-180A <br /> <br />Announcements 8! <br />UOdatQ$ <br /> <br />PGRS Meeting <br /> <br />In regards to the status of the Oak Grove lawsuit settlement, the Oak Grove lawsuit <br />Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved the settlement, but <br />final approval appears to be stalled somewhere in the Justice Department. <br />Childs suggested that communication be started with Senator Durenberger, <br />Representative Vento, and other officials to expedite the process. <br /> <br />The Senior Center Task Force will meet on August 1 2 at the Fridley Senior Center <br />Community Center. <br /> <br />A reception was held to honor new Minneapolis Aquatennial Junior Vice Ron Wachter <br />Commodore Ron Wachter. Council suggested a letter to Ron or possibly an <br />invitation to a future Council meeting. <br /> <br />Meetings are underway with MacGillis & Gibbs, Bell Lumber & Pole, 500 Superfund Sites <br />Line Railroad, Minnesota Commercial Railway, EPA, and Williams Pipeline <br />regarding the cleanup of contaminated sites. Staff sent letters to these <br />parties requesting cooperation during the cleanup process. Benke feels the <br />City's decision to approve the moratorium was correct.
