The new sweeper will arrive in five weeks <br />and may be used for spring sweeping. He will investigate if the three <br />could be used (Le. hold the trade-in until the sweeping is complete). <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman. seconded by Williams, to APPROVE PURCHASE <br />OF A ELGIN SWEEPER FROM MAC QUEEN EQUIPMENT THROUGH THE <br />STATE CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF .71,363 WITH TRADE IN. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Proper presented a variance request to use Municipal State Aid (MSA) for <br />a sidewalk on County Road H between Long Lake Road and Edgewood <br />Drive. MSA funds can only be used for sidewalk construction if the in- <br />place streets meet State Aid standards. The City is attempting to obtain a <br />variance from these rules. <br /> <br />It will be several years before County Road H is upgraded to State Aid <br />standards. The City would place the sidewalk in accordance with the <br />proposal in location of the future State Aid Street. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke. seconded by Rebelein, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION REQUESTING VARIANCE FROM STATE AID <br />RULES TO USE MSA FUNDS FOR SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION ON <br />COUNTY ROAD H BETWEEN LONG LAKE ROAD AND EDGEWOOD <br />DRIVE. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />City Planner Erny Mattila presented a special use permit to deposit fill on <br />the Minneapolis Water Works site in New Brighton. <br /> <br />The Minneapolis Public Works Department wants to create a lagoon to <br />hold sludge at the East River Road site and material from the Mississippi <br />River edge will be excavated. The material is contaminated fill from the 1- <br />94 construction project. The 25,000 cubic yards of material is described <br />as having less than 10 parts per million of petroleum hydrocarbons. <br />About 100 daily truck loads will be needed to fill an existing pit on the <br />City of Minneapolis' site located east of Stinson Blvd. and north of County <br />Road E. The process would operate March 1 through July 1. Monday <br />through Friday. 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. <br /> <br />According to Minneapolis, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency would <br />oversee the process and monitor each truckload prior to leaving the site. <br />Any truckload registering 10 or more parts per million will not be allowed <br />to leave. The trucks will not be covered with a protective canopy.
