<br />,.1 <br /> <br />.. . <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDING.S <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, <br />February 11, 1992, at 7:35 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Larson, Rebelein and Williams. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Maurie Anderson, Park and Recreation Director <br />Barbara Jeanetta, Assistant to the City Manager <br />Les Proper, City Engineer <br /> <br />Council Aaenda <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Larson, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL <br />AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Rebelein, to WAIVE THE READING <br />AND APPROVE THE JANUARY 28, 1992 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Human <br />Rights Commission ~ November 19, 1991, and Park Board. January 8, <br />1992. <br /> <br />Scecial Order of Business <br /> <br />Rebelein said the Human Rights Commission's 4th annual Martin Luther <br />King Essay Contest received many excellent entries. Students from all <br />New Brighton schools, grades 2-8, were invited to participate. <br /> <br />Each winner read their essay and was presented a certificate and $50 <br />United States Savings Bond. The winners are: third grade - Jennie <br />Munsch, fourth grade - Kelley Johnson, fifth grade - Lisa Jensen, sixth <br />grade. Melody Hamoud, seventh grade - Cecilia Kromrey, and eighth <br />grade ~ Megan Ceronsky. <br /> <br />Council congratulated the winners for their tremendous efforts. <br /> <br />Larson said the Northwest Youth and Family Services is requesting the <br />Council's endorsement of an application for Community Development <br />Block Grant Funds.
