1

I

I

Council Meeting Minutes
September 24, 1991

Page 8

Announcements and Uodates

Recent heavy rains have caused erosion and run-off problems from the
Wexford Heights Subdivision. On three instances, the water ran-off the
subdivision very rapidly and overflowed onto Silver Lake Road and
affected six homes. The damage was primarily to lawns, but in one case
a swimming pool cOllapsed. No structures were affected. Staff held a
meeting with the affected residents, Arcon Development, Rice Creek
Watershed and Ramsey County. It was decided that paving will begin
immediately on the steep roads in the subdivision. Large catch basins will
be installed at Silver Lake Road, and soil will be graded from the low point
on the west side of Silver Lake Road to the on-site pond. In the future, a
heavy rain would overflow on the west side and into the pond. Also, it
was found that the culvert on the pond was blocked up with bricks and
mortar. Arcon Development will respond to the damage claims.

Rebelein noted a recent radio program regarding individuals and
municipalities being identified as potential responsible parties in recent
Superfund lawsuits. The City drafted a letter to Senator Durenberger
supporting enactment of legislation to exempt municipalities from liability.
Williams said the Senior Citizen Center Task Force meeting went well.

Larson will be the City representative for the 1992 Stockyard Days
Committee.

The Squash Show will be October 5 at Edgewood Middle School.

The Eagles will hold a mortgage burning party on October 5. Also, the
National President of the Eagles will be honored on October 25.

Larson met a resident of New Brighton, Pennsylvania, who was very
impressed with our community.

Adiournment

Announcements &
Uodates

Wexford Heights
Run.off Problem

Oak Grove
Lawsuit

Center Meeting

Stockyard Days

Squash Show

Eagles

New Brighton, PA

Motion by Larson, seconded by Gunderman, to ADJOURN THE MEETING.
